Amen Trust village clinic held following the deaths of three young children in November 2011

ManASVI supports Amen Trust's village clinics.  These clinics allow rural people who would not normally see a doctor, because of the cost and the difficulty of traveling, the opportunity of a medical examination in (or near) their village.  A day clinic will be attended by up to 400 children/adults and the cost will be (including basic medications) between £250 and £500.

Mosquito transmitted infections are a menace, especially in the wet season, and are a major cause of dangerous illness amongst young children.  Dengue fever is common and malaria an ever present risk.  Besides tests and medication Amen Trust organise the distribution of mosquito nets for children.

Common ailments are:  Parasitic infections, such as worms, Diarrhea, (a common infection, but also a symptom of typhoid), Viral fever (Influenza), and Malnutrition - usually iron and vitamin deficiencies.

Dangerous diseases present are:  Malaria, Dengue fever, TB, typhoid, and polio.
