Who we are
Care for the Family is a national registered charity.  It was launched in the UK in 1988 and in 2005 a regional office was opened in the Isle of Man, ensuring that wherever families need care, Care for the Family is on hand to offer hope, support and encouragement.

Our aim
To promote strong family life and to help those hurting because of family difficulties.

Through our events, resources, training and networks of befrienders we strengthen marriages, support parents, including single parents and step parents and help the bereaved.

The work we do
Equipping parents to drug proof their kids  The How to Drug Proof Your Kids® (DPYK) course is run regularly on the Isle of Man.  This is a course to help steer children away from the harmful use of drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.
Comments from parents and carers who have attended this course include: “An excellent course”, “The emphasis on parenting, self-esteem and communication is excellent”, “What a great course”.

Strengthening marriages  Courses to help couples build lifelong relationships are run regularly.  Topics include ‘Communication and differences’, ‘Resolving conflict’, ‘Great expectations’, ‘Intimacy, romance and sex’.
Comments from couples have included: “The whole course gave us things to talk about and discuss”, “The course brought up things we were both thinking but hadn’t done anything about”, “It opened my eyes”.

Providing family-building resources  Care for the Family’s ‘21st Century Marriage’ and ‘21st Century Parent’ are being used successfully to strengthen families.
Comments have included: “I found it most helpful to take time out together and focus on our marriage”, ”Thank you so much; really appreciated this; lovely to do it together”, “DVD was great”.

Family Building Events  Events are held to support and strengthen you in your relationships and family life.  We have held ‘Teenagers! What Every Parent has to Know’, ‘Issues Families Face’, ‘A Rough Guide for Dads’ and ‘Working to Live’.

How you can help
Care for the Family could not exist without people like you.  Most of our income comes from individual support.  There are many ways you can support this work:

As a 'Partner' by giving a regular amount – your support will help us plan for the future, enabling more people to be helped.

Leaving a lasting gift in your Will.  Care for the Family has produced a free information booklet to guide you through the process of leaving a legacy gift.  Please contact us if you would like a copy.

You may consider recycling your printer cartridges and mobile phones.  We are working with 'Reclaim-it' to collect these items and recycle whilst raising funds to support family life.

Keep in touch
We’d love to keep you informed about Care for the Family’s work – our events, resources and initiatives.  You can receive our monthly email newsletter and other occasional emails from Care for the Family.  You can also receive our free copy of ‘Family’ magazine by post.
