Who we are
Praxis Care Group is a provider of services for adults with a learning disability, mental ill health and acquired brain injury.

Praxis Care began on the Island in 2000 and currently provides care and support for about eighty service users across the Isle of Man.

Our aims

  • To enable our clients to maximise their independence
  • To improve their quality of life
  • To support with new skills and offer social opportunities to integrate into the Island community

The work we do
Mental Health Schemes

Supported Accommodation, Douglas
The supported accommodation is made up of two houses each with five self-contained flats.  The first house, Clifton Terrace is staffed twenty hour hours a day and provides support with daily living skills, emotional support and support to access resources in the community such as college, social opportunities etc.  The second house at Christian Road is an outreach scheme with staff at Clifton Terrace being on call.  Christian Road is designed to maximize independence before service users can move on to their own accommodation.

Home Support  Praxis Home Support offers outreach to fifty service users across the Island in their own homes.  Our staff assist with a wide range of activities such as shopping, banking, post office etc. and play a key role in increasing the service users social activities and integration with the community.

Star Club, Douglas
This is a day centre that is open to anyone experiencing, or who has experienced, mental health problems.  The Club focuses on peoples’ strengths and abilities rather than illnesses.  Activity sessions are held and include, Arts and Crafts, Walk and Talk, Photography, DVD Club and many more.  There is also a café serving a selection of hot and cold food.

Befriending Service  This service is provided by Volunteers and builds friendships that make a positive impact on our clients lives.

Learning Disability Scheme

Glenroyd  Glenroyd provides care and support for five young men with learning disabilities who may also have physical health disabilities and challenging behaviours.  The aim of the scheme is to provide personal care and support for the service users whilst ensuring we actively seek methods of ensuring their choices, privacy and rights of self-determination are achieved.  At the same time Praxis enable clients to maximize their independence, support them with new skills and offer them social opportunities to integrate into community facilities.
